The second concert in Creative Music Guild’s Outset Series features a solo performance by Cecille Elliott followed by the Lori Goldston Trio with Lori Goldston (cello), Mike Gamble (guitar), and Tim DuRoche (guitar).

Opening the evening, Cecille Elliott presents a solo set of original songs and improvisations for voice, violin, and guitar. Blending composed material with spontaneous exploration, Elliott’s performance offers an intimate glimpse into her evolving creative practice and adventurous approach to songwriting and improvisation.

The Lori Goldston Trio brings together three longtime collaborators for an evening of exploratory improvisation. Known for her work with Nirvana, Earth, and countless projects across experimental, contemporary, and improvised music, Seattle cellist Lori Goldston brings her distinctive voice to a trio that draws from chamber music, ambient sound, creative jazz, and free improvisation. Together, Goldston, Gamble, and DuRoche create music that moves fluidly between structure and spontaneity, lyricism and experimentation.

The Outset Series highlights adventurous artists presenting new work in intimate listening environments, creating space for experimentation, collaboration, and creative discovery within Portland’s creative music community.

Classically trained and rigorously de-trained, possessor of a restless, semi-feral spirit, Lori Goldston is a cellist, composer, improvisor, producer, writer and teacher from  Seattle. Her voice as a cellist, amplified or acoustic, is full, textured, committed and original. A relentless inquirer, her work drifts freely across borders that separate genre, discipline, time and geography.
