Peter Broderick
Peter Broderick (1987) grew up in the tiny town of Carlton, Oregon, where he studied the classical violin from age 7. Coming from a family in which everyone played music, there was no shortage of instruments in the household, and Peter taught himself a variety of other instruments into his teenage years, including piano, guitar, banjo, musical saw, drums, and more. Since 2007 he has released a steady stream of solo music, ranging from experimental soundscapes to more straight forward singer-songwriter material, on record labels such as Erased Tapes, Bella Union, and Type Recordings. From 2007 to 2013 Peter moved to Europe, first to Copenhagen, Denmark, and later to Berlin, Germany, where he toured relentlessly both as a solo act and with the Danish band Efterklang. In 2013 he moved back to his native Oregon, opening a recording studio in the small coastal town of Pacific City called The Sparkle. There he has recorded and produced new work from Heather Woods Broderick, Chantal Acda, Brumes, Shelley Short, and many other musicians from the Portland area and beyond. He continues to travel to Europe often for tours, while integrating himself more and more into his local Pacific Northwest community while at home. (www.peterbroderick.net)
