‘I was raised in NYC and absorbed New England and Caribbean culture from my parents; recently, this has turned my ear towards UK drill, Afrobeats, and music from all over the diaspora.

I’m a major fan of dub, ambient, sleep, tea, being alone, and spending time in-person with my close ones.

I was around when cloud rap was coming into prominence with Lil B, Xaiver Wulf, and Yung Lean; I fell in love with the sound and its been a major influence on my approach to music and writing since. I love writing. much of my focus falls there when making work.’

NEW INJURIES has completed a 9 volume song treatment series called The 9 Tomorrows in early 2019, has catered to the forward motion of his musical creation. New Injuries started as a two piece meal, and at one point a three piece. After a long hard 2 years of guerrilla recording an album for former punk drummer Adam Drawdy’s side project BOYMEETSHERMAPHRODITE at the end of 2009 into 2010.
Adam now goes by baggage klaim.

It’s the last release of 2022, or is it the first release of 2023. Maybe both? This certainly deserves someone’s end of the year list treatment.
The music of Portland, Oregon producer Mario Rudd has been on rotation pretty heavily at HT HQ since I ran across their music in 2019. If you all like a little Dada with your hip hop this will be right up your alley. Over all this is beat driver music, that draws inspiration from the world of hip hop and techno, yet there is an ambient haze that permeates all of it. Unlike mainstream hip hop the MC is buried in the mix and met with elements of noise with the other familiar elements of electronic music. It’s reminiscent of those projects where it’s a person screaming into a suit case full of pedals, and then there’s beats to it, and so much more. It’s been a fun release to discover.
